What’s New

There are three more weeks to the spring season, and then we’ll be on hiatus unless we can find a covered arena for a summer program.

All of the parents are asking us to continue doing the program in MIke Lewis in the uncovered arena until we find a place.  They want to do it early in the mornings.

The program children are progressing in leaps and bounds.  Our peer volunteer, Savannah Marten, is a natural therapist at 13 years old.  Every week she comes up with a new idea that engages our high functioning children and gives them a new challenge.  She runs the course with some of the children.  The program children like her a great deal.

Families are beginning to stay for hours and hours - not only watching their own children - but also the children of their school friends.  They bring us cold drinks and encourage us; and it’s pretty great.

It’s not even May yet, and it’s getting hot.  Most of the adult volunteers go home after the session ends, so they can lie on their couches and recover.  The kids don’t wear us out; it’s the sun beating down on us.

Our peer volunteer, Savannah, goes to Outback and consumes loaves and loaves of bread while waiting for her meal and drinks four large beverages in a matter of minutes.

Then she consumes a kid steak in four bites and asks for dessert.  She deserves it.

Outback Steakhouse is one of our sponsors, so they take care of us after a long day doing recreational therapy.  Please support Outback and our other corporate sponsors, because they support us.
