April, 2011:

Navarre was in the process of being adopted in December, 2010; but we formed an agreement with Dr. Deborah McCormick to create an equine assisted therapy and decided to keep Navarre for this program.  He’s slated as a therapy horse when we launch that program, but for now, he lives with Sangria and Red Moon at Martin Horse Farm in Arlington languishing in the pasture.

Navarre is a slow, steady horse that’s best ridden as a lead line pony unless a confident equestrian is on his back.  He knows how to stand still like a statue and prefers to eat and stand more than any other past time.

So we ground train Navarre in the arena and do Parelli horsemanship skills with him.

For a horse that came to us as a kicking, squashing, charging, stubborn, mean-spirited horse, he’s come a long way.

June, 2011:

Nav
arre recently went to Mike Lewis Park for some light riding and photos.

He’s slated for use in our program aimed at Women Rebuilding Their Lives.

We’re so pleased with how Navarre has turned out.  He’s going to be a great therapy horse.
