Dash's Story

April, 2011:

August, 2009:

Dash continues to wow us with his sweet disposition.  We’ve had him for a year now and are thrilled to have him as a member of our family.  With the upcoming equine therapy program, we know that Dash is going to be one of the most favorite horses.  He’s been in the pasture all summer and is looking forward to going to work.  He’s shown here with our friend, Lexi.

April, 2009:

Dash has turned into the darling of White Bridle (don’t read this Trinity and Jose).  He is so much fun, and so great with kids.  We can’t wait to start our equine therapy program for special needs kids, because Dash is going to WOW the world.

September, 2008:

Dash has been with us for three months, and this little sorrel is simply a great horse.  We brought him in specifically to use for our community outreach programs with children, and it’s obvious from the photos that he was a good choice.

Viri, the 3 year old daughter of our assistant trainer, Luis, fell in love with Dash and played with him and rode him for hours the first weekend that we had him.  He hasn’t been with many children, so we were surprised at how sweet he was with Viri.

Dash is now with our herd of minis in the city at Martin Horse Farm in Arlington and is becoming socialized to work with our other minis and become accustomed to being with people and more children.

Dash is a kind, gentle horse, who runs to see us.  He has a fast trot and moves his little legs rapidly as he comes running to us.  It’s almost comical, because he’d move faster if he cantered, but Dash simply loves to trot.

Dash has adjusted well to the herd and grazes with all of the other minis in addition to spending a fair amount of time with True Love, our sorrel Canadian yearling.

We’ve been working with Dash on voice commands and training him to walk beside us off lead and can direct him by lightly touching him or gently leading him by a small lock of his mane.

Dash loves to spend time with us and follows us around as we muck stalls, work on our compost pile and do chores in the pasture.  He’s turned out to be a great addition to our equine family, and we’re thankful to have him.

Dash is a therapy mini for White Bridle and spends his Saturday’s walking the obstacle course with young children in Mike Lewis Park.

He’s our smallest mini, but one of our best.  Most of our big minis work both on the obstacle course and as cart driving minis, but Dash is too small.  This means that he has to be something special in order to make it as a therapy mini.

We’ve had Dash for nearly three years and found him on Craig’s List and then drove to Tyler to get him.

He’s a natural as a therapy horse.
